Our family moved to Barrie, ON in 2002 from Brampton, ON. After a life-long struggle with eczema I started a holistic bath & body business called Terra Bella Naturals in 2007 to nourish my skin with all natural ingredients. I studied Aromatherapy and offered alternative solutions made with essential oils for common, everyday occurrences such as cuts & scrapes, bug bites, minor aches & pains, and spritzes to help you avoid being a bug magnet.
While in Brampton I discovered that I had problems with the tap water because of the added chemicals to make it drinkable. I still cannot drink tap water without getting a very sore throat or throat infection. I have become increasingly reactive to modern medicines...both prescription and over-the-counter drugs. By not drinking the tap water and using my chemical free soaps, creams and balms my skin became healthy again with fewer outbreaks.
My gluten-free journey started in 2018 when I developed a rash on the top of my foot that wouldn’t go away and within a year had spread to all limbs and was starting to creep onto my torso. A skin biopsy confirmed that it was eczema. I already knew that I was allergic to my environment outside and other things like perfume, medicines and tap water. So what could be causing these painful blisters, almost like a really bad sunburn?
Eczema is caused by Something, and may be different for each person so I took a very expensive food sensitivity blood test. I found out that I had many food sensitivities, including foods containing gluten.
My gluten-free food choices from supermarkets were slim, and most tasted like cardboard.
After searching the web, reading cook books, taking gluten-free baking courses and much experimentation, I now feel that my gluten-free baking today tastes fabulous...definitely NOT like cardboard. My skin cleared up and my digestion is working much better too.

I use the finest quality ingredients I can find, organic if possible. I DO use nuts and have adapted my mother’s peanut butter cookie recipe and her date squares recipe to a gluten-free version that brings back childhood memories.
I feel that the most important thing you can do for yourself is to know your own body...what works and what doesn’t. For instance, did you know that many people with gluten sensitivities also have to avoid dairy? Why, you ask? Gluten damages part of the small intestine that makes the enzymes for digesting dairy.

Our home-baked breads & sweet treats are made with real, non GMO ingredients chosen for their flavour and what they do for the product you are eating. We often grind the rice into flour with our own mill, and sometimes dehydrate the onions and spices ourselves and make our own extracts. We never use preservatives and prefer to leave our breads and buns unsliced to lock in moisture.
